My friend Jules sent me a message regarding one of the houses that I visited last week in the Siurana-area.

We stayed in the Pla de Castell house near Cornudella last April, and it was awful! They had treated the rock walls inside the house with some sort of chemical, and the place stank. You could hardly bear to stay in it. We had to have all the windows open all the time, which meant wearing down jackets in the house as it was freezing. Also, the blankets etc were dirty, and the pictures on the website are very mis-leading. One of the “bedrooms” in the apartment we were in was in fact a shelf above the living room and you couldn’t sit up in bed without cracking your head on the ceiling. And the bath was more like a small box – about 3 foot square and you couldn’t lie out in it. I mentioned the smell to the lady when she commented on the open windows, and she didn’t apologise or offer to do anything about it. All in all, we were quite angry to have spent so much money on such a mediocre place.

Just thought you might like to know as you have it on your site….

So we remove the house from our site! We would hate offering a house we know someone didn’t like. It is incredibly important that all the houses and all the products we offer can be trusted, we want to build a lasting business. And given that the guests we had at Cal Rafeló were very enthusiastic and the guests at Casa Montserrat were blown away by the house and the hospitality of the owner, I’m sure that we can find a better house close to Siurana.

Thank you, Jules!
